Our Objective
Deep in the hearts of Mexicans, there is a passion for food. This passion is a daily fascination. It is the fiber of our existence, and we celebrate with fervor each and every one of our meals.
For the Mexican, a meal is not an action, but a ritual; this inheritance from ancient times plays an important part in our daily lives. There is an old Mexican saying: “barriga llena, corazon contento” (when the stomach is full, there is a warm heart).
Mexican cuisine is continuously enticing the palates of peoples of the world. When the new world was discovered, the explorers thought they were conquering a continent and its cultures. Little did they know that the flavors and foods of the indigenous peoples would end up conquering the world.
How could the “conquistadores” know that the domesticated foods of the cultures of Mexico (corn, tomatoes, squash, beans, peppers, avocado, chocolate and vanilla) would one day be important staples for the peoples of the world?
The vast and abundant variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices gives “rienda suelta” (freedom) to our imagination and helps us create “manjares” (delights) worth our existence.
We at PICANTE! embrace this traditional creed with every meal we prepare; our objective is not only to create something that will satisfy your appetite, but something to spark your passion, fill your spirit, and leave you with a “corazon contento.”
